Recurring Events
When you create a new Event on your myfamily.com site, you can set it to recur once every month or every year. So if you’re adding birthdays, anniversaries or holidays to your site, just select a Yearly reoccurance and a new iteration of the Event will be automatically created every year. You won’t have to re-enter them again in the future.
Updates To What’s New
There are now ten items displaying in the What’s New module of your site’s home page, rather than five. We’ve also added a “More…” link that will take you to your What’s New page with the Show New filter already selected.
The What’s New section now remembers your filtering and sorting criteria. So once you filter by item type, who added the content and whether or not it’s new, the What’s New section will remember your settings until you visit a different section of your site.
Inviting Contacts From Multiple Sites
When inviting people from your Contact List to your site, you can now select from any contact on any of your sites, not just those on the site you’re inviting from. From the Invite page, click on ‘Select From Site Contact List’, choose the site and select the contacts you’d like to add to your invitation.
The ‘View My Content’ Link
We’ve added a ‘View My Content’ link to all member profile pages. This link will take you to a search page that displays all the content that person has added to the site.
Also, clicking on member avatars or nicknames in the comments section of an item will take you directly to that member’s profile page.

The recurring events are great, but it would be even better if there was a “weekly” option to go with the “monthly” and “yearly.” It would also be nice if there was a stop-date option for events that repeat for a finite amount of time.
Keep up the great work!
It would be great to have a system for categorizing files you store in the file cabinet. I’d like to set up a named file drawer for each of my families. This would be more helpful than just loading all the files to the same page.
Also, an area for links to be shared set up either on the homepage or on the individual photo pages would be great.
Great job so far, looking forward to many new features!
Thanks Tammy – great suggestion.
I’m not certain if this has been mentioned in any of the updates, but adding each individual’s information is not available to the administrator. As many of my family like it when they can ask me to help them, this feature is important to me and I loved the ability enjoyed with the original concerning this. Also, adding each birthday, anniversary, etc. for each member is not an option for me as we have over 100 members. We try to only post this type of information in “events” as our news does cover special events we are planning. Thanks for your hard work. Pegi
Increasing the “what’s new” items on the home page from 5 to 10 is helpful, however it would also be nice for a member to be able to specify that posted items not be displayed in this section. If someone uploads ten or more photos, it displaces items that might have been recently posted that one would like to remain on the home page for a longer time. Alternatively, it would be nice if the administrator could edit what is viewed in the “what’s new” section of the home page.
I also agree with Tammy’s post regarding the ability to organize content into folders/sub-files, as is done for photos in albums.
It would be greatly helpful if new pictures in an album would be placed at the front of the album not the end. People viewing the albums dont want to have to scroll through all the pics they may have seen before to get to the new images. Automatically organizing the pics from most recent to oldest would make more sense.
I am full paying member and have been with the original site for many years. All of my family wants the administrator to handle issuing passwords, updating address, phone numbers… I can’t even get my grandfather (83) logged in because it won’t deliver a password to his email and I can’t get him logged on. He lives to check the original. We all want the trivia on the new site as well. Also be able to upload many pictures at once with upload express AND be able to sort them into different albums without having to do each album separate.
Big issue is letting the administrator be the administrator!
I love the new feature of being able to add videos from youtube.com and be able to get the html code to embed elsewhere! Great job! I would like to that when a new album is created, only the “new album” shows on the “what’s new”, instead of the individual pics, which displaces anything else that was on the “what’s new”..Thanks!
I am just getting started in MyFamily and I like the repeating event feature. However, it is distracting to have the repeating dates displayed a whole year in advance if it is an annual event like a birthday. Shouldn’t there be a way to limit the time ahead that events are displayed. Probably a limited number of upcoming events would work as well. By the way, I am assuming that the only way to show birthdays is by using the event feature. I couldn’t find any way to do it otherwise.
@Wm. Murray,
Another way to display a birthday (if you entered a birthday within My Profile) is under “My Account” > My Memberships > customize on each of your sites just what you want displayed. Be sure to click “Save” for any change to each of your sites
